Yub Raj Dhakal

Yub Raj Dhakal leads the firm’s assignments. He is an Environment Management Specialist with more than 20 years in environmental assessment, environmental and social safeguards, statutory clearances, construction supervision, occupational health and safety, biodiversity conservation and stakeholder engagement, across 35+ major infrastructure projects in Nepal, India, Iraq and Mauritania, including assignments financed by the World Bank, ADB and KfW and private projects applying IFC standards.

From 2016 to 2023 he served as Environment and Health Safety Expert and Safeguard Specialist with the Project Directorate (ADB), Department of Roads, representing the Department on safeguard matters for ADB-financed highways. In that role he reviewed and finalised EIAs, IEEs, EMPs and contractors’ site-specific action plans, monitored forest clearance, tree felling, wildlife protection and GBV/TIP measures, and supported preparation of the GESI Operational Guidelines 2017 endorsed by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

Between 2009 and 2016 he was Principal Investigator, Team Leader and Environmental Specialist on EIA, IEE and baseline assignments for highways, hydropower, transmission lines and industry, with Tree Ring Society Nepal, ERMC, ITECO-Nepal, EMI and Himal Hydropower, including principal investigator on the ADB/NAST treeline study in Manang, Mustang and Dolpa. He is a certified trainer in occupational health and safety and environmental audit.
